Nike Swift Suit

Josiah is fitted with the revolutionary Swift Suit. Created by Nike’s Advanced Innovation Team, the Swift has been proven and tested not only in wind tunnel simulations but also by world class athletes from the cycling arena and other forms of speed measurement sports. Developed over a span of 7 years, with constant improvement and realtime experience applied over it, the Nike Swift Suit is the world’s fastest time trial suit.

With the Nike Swift Suit, Josiah Ng is perfectly equipped to battle not only his opponents but also the laws of physics in his quest to bring home a medal.

Design Rationale

Josiah’s Swift Suit which was tailor-made for him features the signature bold and yellow stripes synonymous with Malaysian sports. The yellow stripes, juxtaposed brilliantly with a black cascading suit represent the Malayan Tiger – Malaysia’s symbol of strength and courage.

The crescent and star emblem on the upper back of the suit represents the history of Malaysia, deeply rooted within its religion and monarchy. The strength of Malaysia and its people are reflected within this insignia as they ride with Josiah each time he pedals hard to make his country proud.

Technology

The Swift Spin is laced with breakthrough technology to enhance Josiah’s velocity through advanced apparel. It features 4 distinctive technologies.

Zoned Aerodynamic

The Swift Spin is made of uniquely different textures that fulfil the purpose of reducing pressure drag. Imagine a golf ball that has tiny indentations on it to help it fly through the air. The same principle applies here.

Precise Seam Placement

When the cyclist is travelling at 70km per hour, his or her biggest opponent is wind resistance. To reduce friction, strategic seams are placed on the suit for the athlete to progress along with natural air flow. Rather than fighting it, the suit helps the cyclist travel with it like a sailboat.

Articulated Fit

To amplify the speed of a cyclist, the Swift Suit employs Articulated Fit in its design. The suit is cut specifically for one position to achieve a streamlined fit. It hugs the cyclist’s body and fits the contours of the cyclist as he mounts on his bike. This eliminates any form of excess fabric to minimise wind resistance from affecting the speed of the athlete.

Strategic Venting

The human body is inefficient. Only 20% of muscle power is converted to energy output while 80% is given off as heat. To counter this inefficiency, the Swift Suit is made out of mesh vents that are strategically placed outside the airflow portion during high speed flight. The result? A cyclist who sheds excess heat and improve body efficiency without affection aerodynamics.
